School Board Swears in Six Board Members at Reorganization Meeting

During the Titusville Area School District school board meeting on Monday evening, December 4th, six members of the board were sworn in after this year’s election.

Krista Steinbuhler was elected to a two-year term, while Lynn Cressman, Jill Neely, Jack Roberts, Marc Ross, and Carol Shaffer were elected to four-year terms.

Cressman was also reelected as board president, while Roberts was reelected to vice president, with Monica Chatham appointed secretary to fill in the remaining unexpired term of Jeremiah Morrison through June 30th, 2025.

Board member Kevin O’Neill was also appointed as district liaison to Riverview Intermediate Unit #6 for a one-year term that expires November 30th, 2024.

The board approved the Stark Tech change order for a credit of $35,415.50 for cleaning provided by Titusville Area School District for Hydetown and Main Street elementary schools. Superintendent Cressman thanked those who worked hard to clean up the schools to have them ready in time for the students to return by the beginning of school this year.

Also approved was the first reading of the reviewed and/or revised school board policies, which included: policy formation; homework; extracurricular participation by charter/cyber charter students; standards for persistently dangerous schools; standards for victims of violent criminal offenses; assignment within district; use of facilities by staff (replacing Policy 711 – personal use of equipment, tools, materials, supplies, and motor vehicles by employees); acceptable use of Internet, computers, and network resources; and suicide awareness, prevention, and response.

The TASD Employee Christmas Tea and Retiree Recognition will be held on Wednesday, December 13th, in the THS cafeteria from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

The next committee meeting will be on Monday, January 8th, 2024, at 7 p.m. in the THS boardroom. And the regular meeting will be on Tuesday, January 16th, 2024, at 7 p.m. in the THS boardroom.
